DETROIT ACTION COMMONWEALTH
Detroit Action Commonwealth addresses immediate needs as it challenges institutions that create and perpetuate those needs. Our mission is to advance human development in all of its dimensions: social, economic, political, personal, and spiritual.
Building Power, Changing Lives
Founded in early 2008 at a soup kitchen on Detroit’s east side, Detroit Action Commonwealth (DAC)
is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization. DAC develops individual and collective power to promote opportunity, advance justice, and challenge root causes of poverty and homelessness.
More than 8,000 individuals have taken part in DAC activities to date, and more than 5,000 of them have signed up as members. Our four chapters each meet weekly: at the two Capuchin Soup Kitchens, the Saint Leo Soup Kitchen, and NOAH. Each chapter elects its own officers and raises its own funds.
